The Roses of Picardie // Too few people visit the northern bits of France and thus miss so many small treasures. Gerberoy is quite well known (enough that if you want a photograph of an empty street you must come in the rain, or wait until the timing is just right). But all of the other small villages between my coastal northern home and here – absolutely gorgeous and for the most part empty.
We arrived in the village after a very smooth, charming drive to a nice fair bit of rain (of which I was entirely unprepared for and grumbled about), which always helps to bring out rich gorgeous colours. The skies cleared just a we were leaving, and watching a beautiful wedding party walk through the town after the bride and groom left the church (unfortunately I was not hired to photograph that dream of a wedding !).
Have a cuppa and dream a bit.
